Skyler Cocco is a New York-based artist, songwriter, and record producer, and today sees the release of her new single, “The Drive,” a song essentially about reflecting on a time where Skyler may have said things she didn’t mean to at her partner or lashed out in a way that made the couple feel insecure in their relationship.

Speaking on the creation of her new chill-pop anthem, Skyler reveals that the song additionally touches on the cooldown period after a fight, where you take some space to really let your own words resonate and see where you were wrong in a situation, and realise what you are putting at stake by not changing those behaviours. “I really wanted to write a love song that felt vulnerable”, Skyler explain, “[and] showed my true intentions, that I can hold myself accountable and change for someone who I wouldn’t want to live without.”

Following on from the release of “IDGAF” back in July, which was a much faster paced, bop-y single, Skyler has returned with a song that sees the pop artist slow down her music and take the time to allow each lyric and instrumental to stand out on its own and be consumed.
