Now that The Belligerents‘ new album ‘Science Fiction‘ is out, the band have time to release catch and funky music videos like their title track ‘Science Fiction‘.

Expecting as much as you would from a single about Science, space and fiction, the music video features The Belligerents‘ lead character [Lewis] as he goes for a check-up to see if he is able to become an astronaut, it doesn’t work out according to plan. Even though deep down, the music video features a touching message.

Going into detail about the music video, Lewis Stephenson noted how they filmed the video in Melbourne “a few weeks back across a few humid, wet days.”

“It was real hot in that space suit. I had never acted before and so I was pretty nervous, but after doing it for the first few hours I got used to it and the shakes stopped.”

Director of Science Fiction, Julian adds how it was “exciting tackling a sequel. The line ‘why can’t I fly away from earth’ was the catalyst for the concept.”

“Of course I couldn’t set it in space, so I thought it would be interesting to position Lewis as a bit of a neurotic guy who really believes that he can fly to space to find his dog; it’s everyone else around him who are standing in his way.”
