‘California‘ is the new single from Glasgow, Scotland-based artist Michael Oakley and today he has released another taste of his forthcoming EP, which is essentially his ‘own personal love letter to the 1980’s’.
Going into detail about his own EP, Michael noted he has been “thinking back to that time [when he discovered his fiancé was being unfaithful], I was really lost in every way possible”, adding how “out of that I had this overwhelming feeling like I had something to say and the only way I could do that was through music.”
The EP goes into detail and reflects Michael’s emotional journey over the course of a year, enduring heart ache and rediscovering what it feels to love again – while putting it all into his music.
Having already given listeners a taste of the EP with the lead single, ‘Turn Back Time‘, Michael continues to use slick synth-wave vibes intertwined with classic 80’s pop atmospheres and dry guitar instrumentals. ‘California‘ isn’t just a story about being in a place that is far away, it is also about moving on.
