LX Mason is an Australian-based pop artist and back in August the Sydney artist released is single ‘I Don’t’, a song essentially about “choosing not to be oppressed by the weight of peoples opinions,” LX explains.
“For the longest time (and if I’m honest, it’s an every day battle) I allowed negative opinions of me to frame what I told myself.”
Continuing on about the notion of the single, LX additionally explains how the single not only touches on the opinons of others, but also the “standards, compliments, hatred, or even your” own “anxieties and fears.”
“There’s more to life than that, and sometimes you have to break free, take a chance on yourself, and do what makes you happy,” LX adds.
“Songwriting for me is a way of processing life and this was something that weighed on me for a while. Once I released it, I quickly realized I wasn’t the only one who battled this kinda stuff.”
“I’m so happy with how it turned out, and the support I’ve had around it already,” LX concludes.
Having presented a strong message wrapped up within this three minute video, LX explains the reasoning as to why he wanted to release the single; “It was almost like I needed to release it, you know?”
LX explained to Eat This Music about how songwriting is used a platform for “processing life and this was something that weighed on” himself “for a while.”
“Once I released it [I Don’t], I quickly realized I wasn’t the only one who battled this kinda stuff. I’m so happy with how it turned out, and the support I’ve had around it already.”
2019 looks to be a big year for the Sydney-based artist with a lot more music to come, as LX’s next release is “in the mixing stages right now” and LX is also planning on collaborating with friends and artists alike.
