Since the release of their debut single ‘Decisions‘ back in September 2016, Melbourne duo nyck (pronounced n.y.c.k) have gone on to released a second single ‘Speak My Mind’ and gain quiet a bit of critical acclaim from the Australian music industry, from online news posts and reviews to interviews and radio airplays to opening for Emma Louise across the country; the end of 2016 to 2017 has been eventual for the two leads Nick Acquroff and Dominique Garrard.
Since then, nyck signed a deal with new Mushroom imprint 100s + 1000s and they have been working on the release of their debut EP, ‘Alive’, which featuring three additional songs – other than the two previous releases – that showcase why nyck is one of the best new pop acts in the country.
The early aspects of the EP’s creation took a span of 10 weeks in winter 2016 to create. Showcasing a diverse range of stories about breaking up, people dying, quitting a job and moving twice, and more.
As Nick noted himself, EP is essentially about being “alive” again.
“It’s about building from a place of feeling completely detached to feeling alive again.”
This is a well made debut EP from an act you will be hearing more from in 2017 and beyond. nyck’s ‘Alive’ is now out via all major digital retailers and streaming services.
