‘See You Soon‘ is the second EP from Sydney-based artist Alex The Astronaut and the follow-up to her debut EP ‘Too Whom It May Concern‘, which was released back in March.
Offering five more songs to the Alex The Astronaut stable, See You Soon is a solid attempt at Alex The Astronaut showcasing her great songwriting and singing ability, with the lead single ‘Not Worth Hiding‘ being the stand out and receiving critical acclaim Australia-wide pre-EP release.
See You Soon is full of story driven melodies that focus on subjects from marriage equality, being a tourist in your own town, love-struck and many other narratives.
With upbeat hits ‘What Sydney Looks Like in June’, the slow melodic structure of ‘New York’, the piano-centric ‘William and Georgia’, Alex The Astronaut has put together a solid EP that showcases more of her interesting story driven music that showcases some great story arcs and has a good assortment of vocal work from Alison that makes these melodies enjoyable from start to end – which even Sir Elton John even likes.
This week on Eat This Music, Alex the Astronaut joins me to chat about her forthcoming EP, ‘See You Soon’, releasing this Friday, her latest single ‘Not Worth Hiding’, creating music, playing gigs, telling jokes and much more.
