Today’s delicious song of the day comes from Greek artist Evripidis and His Tragedies! This new song, titled “Melancholia“, was written as a piano piece in 2014, a few weeks after Evripidis suffered a homophobic attack in his hometown of Athens, Greece.

Evripidis and His Tragedies’ newest song parallels the story of Lars Von Tiers’ 2011 feature film of the same name, ‘Melancholia, with the added bonus of Evripidis’ own personal reality after his own incident.

The lyrics in the song actually describe the struggle to remain afloat while spiralling down the void of depression (which is a topic close to the heart of Evripidis), although, not without a certain sense of humour and a ray of hope. Additionally, the female voices in the song are actually Evripidis’ own personal friends and partners in crime, per se, in the Barcelona underground, which scene-serve as a Greek choir for this song.
