Talk about a blast from the past – Django Django are a band that has not been covered on Eat This Music in a very long time! Even though I was (and slightly still am) completely obsessed with their single ‘Default‘ (which came out all the way back in 2012); the last time Django Django were covered on Eat This Music was back in October 2017 with the release of ‘Tic Tac Toe‘ off their 2018 album ‘Marble Skies‘.
Following on from the release of their record in 2018, ‘Winter’s Beach‘, the British four-piece has returned with a song that essentially reminds listeners why they are (still) one of the best alternative rock bands around with the use of their heavy handed, world building of sounds, featuring synths, drums, and bass lines for days, and prominent vocals. Even though the band is coming off a hiatus of sorts, they have actually been keeping themselves busy by working on new music – just like this new single.
Speaking on the release of the single, the band reveal that this is a song they designed for playing live and it has been in the set for while. “The title and lyrics are a reference to DNA,” the band explain. “It’s really about the connections we have as humans being stronger than the divisions. [In fact] We’re all connected and all related to each other no matter who we are or where we are from.”
