Today’s delicious song of the day comes from Oslo-based Norwegian singer and pop artist DAGNY! Coming off the release of Dagny’s entire debut album ‘Strangers/Lovers‘, due out for release from October 2 via Little Daggers Records, DAGNY returns with the follow up from the A-Side of the aforementioned album with ‘It’s Only A Heartbreak’, a song essentially about still having feeling for someone, even after the break up.
Speaking on the release of her new single, Dagny explains that it [It’s Only Heartbreak] is actually partly inspired by the classic movie “Casablanca” from 1942, and Humphrey Bogart’s famous quote – often imitated globally: “Here’s looking at you, kid”. Dagny continues: “Like the movie, the song is about knowing that you will never get someone back,” Dagny explains, “but you can secretly still look at, and admire, that certain someone.” This song additionally carries a nonchalant expression, but the undertone makes it pretty obvious that you are not over that person Dagny is talking about… yet.
I came late to the Dagny party after first coming across her single ‘Somebody‘ earlier in 2020, however, while I am still relatively new to who DAGNY is as an artist, I am looking forward to finding out more about her with the release of her entire ‘Strangers/Losers’ album in October.
