Today’s delicious song of the day comes form Australian pop artist Yorke! Her music is great, and I hope you come to appreciate how much talent she has and how much work she puts into her product.
Speaking on the release of the music video for her latest single, ‘Gravity’, Yorke explains that Yorke says that the idea behind the video was choreographed during isolation, and as restrictions started to lift, she and her team were lucky enough to be in the same city at the same time to execute it properly. “The whole crew was incredible,” Yorke continues, “[and] Giulia’s directing style (dancing along with me off camera) really brought out the best in my performance.” During the creative process, Yorke painstakingly cut out over 500 stars/circles, which “felt like the biggest achievement seeing them look so fun on screen.”
Director Giulia Giannini McGauran was a big help to accomplish the aforementioned; she and her team wanted to show the pushing and pulling of this relationship, in a graphically simple but fun way to compliment the dancing and elevate the concept of gravity and space.” And by the time the filming date came around, they brought in the Tom Black on Cinematography and Gilda Jones on editing to bring the piece to life. “It really was so wonderful that, out of all the restrictions we were able to create something and have such an amazing time doing it,” she continues.
Following on from the releases of her single ‘Nights We Waste‘ and EP ‘Liberosis‘ earlier in 2020, Yorke has put together a solid single and video that not only show off her already well established storytelling and lyric prowess, but also her artistry in the visual interpretation of her music.
