Coming off the release of Yorke‘s EP “Liberosis“, is her single “Night We Waste“, a song Yorke explained when Eat This Music covered the EP, was a song that essentially serves as a breath of fresh air for Yorke.
Touching on the above statement, “Nights We Waste” essentially explores a moment to stop and let things go, and just enjoy being in the moment. One of the lyrics “Honestly we’re holding onto things we can’t control” sums up a lot of what the EP is in its own right, and in fact, the song is the acknowledgement that yes, things are out of your hands and you’re just going to have to accept that. On the song, Yorke revealed she really struggled with change when she was younger, but is getting a lot better at it now
This music video is full of talent from all across Australia, featuring Yorke herself, with appearances from Approachable Members Of Your Local Community, Bajillionaire, Coterie, Doolie, Eilish Gilligan, Eliott, Fergus James, Hauskey (and Penny), Japanese Wallpaper, Lakyn, Ninajirachi, NOT A BOYS NAME, Shannen James, Sloan Peterson, Tasker, The Million, Winterbourne, and Wolfjay.
Speaking on the release of the video, Yorke explained that during self-isolation she has been spoken to a few fellow creatives who have noted they feel a big pressure to be creative, when they really just want to take a time out. Yorke loves being able to come together with her mates to create a video that is just a bit silly and fun – which is evident in the final product – and honestly, Yorke never thought a video of her singing into a hairbrush in her bedroom would make it onto the internet; yet here we are.
