Reija Lee is an underrated pop artist out of Western Australia whom I have covered on Eat This Music previously here, here and here.

However, today sees the release of the Perth native’s first release of 2019 titled ‘Something True‘. Following on from the release of her 2018 smash hit self-love pop anthem ‘Love Somebody‘, Reija Lee’s Something True sees the artist explore being with someone new after sorting “your shit out.”

Speaking on the release of Something True, Reija explains how she “was on tour with Shockone,” while “sitting backstage at” their “Melbourne show with a good friend of” hers “Ian Strange (an amazing artist in his own right), and we were talking about life and ambitions…” Reija said “flippantly “you know, I’ve got money, I’ve got things, I’m comfortable.”” and that’s when Ian’s “eyes went all wide” and he “said “You HAVE to turn that into a song.”

The next day I went into the studio with Styalz and wrote Something True.”

Offering a cool slice of synth keys and overshadowing vocals from Reija throughout this three minute and 8 second long pop anthem, Reija has given herself more than enough time to showcase her great use of 80s inspired neon pop and smooth digitally enhanced instruments.

2019 looks to be a big year for Reija Lee as she explains “there is so much more to come!”; with the release of new songs on the way. Stay tuned.
