Sophia Danai is a pop artist out of Canada and last month the Vancouver, British Columbia native released her single ‘Daughter‘, a song essentially about “the cycles of abuse that we bear witness to and endure,” Sophia explains.
Going into detail about the single, Sophia expands on the story, “all people deserve to be treated with respect.”
“The ability and power to create this relationship is within each of us, and is a direct result of the relationship that we have with ourselves.”
Sophia’s ‘Daughter’ is a great mix between dark pop and storytelling, from the opening recurring lyrics and instrumental to the slow building end and conclusion of the single, taking the listener on a journey throughout this nearly four minute pop anthem.
Going into detail about the creation of the single, Sophia explains how she “recorded the track at Echoplant Studios in Port Coquitlam, B.C. Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, Said The Whale, Mathew V) and” her “amazing band – Michael Meroniuk (Guitar) and Jan Orsag (Keys, Ableton Live).”
“We’re like a family and had a great vibe in the studio. It felt like a creative oasis. We have great respect and care for each other; not only did I feel understood as an artist, I felt supported and strengthened.”
Daughter is another taste of what’s to come off Sophia Danai’s forthcoming EP ‘Real Eyes‘, due out for release 29th March.
