It has been a couple of months since the release of What So Not‘s debut album ‘Not All The Beautiful Things‘ came out to critical acclaim from media, musicians and industry-types all around!

Since the release of Not All The Beautiful Things, What So Not has not slowed down, in fact, heh as been working hard on the release of his new music – which came out today.

Today sees the release of ‘We Can Be Friends’, a collaboration and platform featuring What So Not’s friend Herizen.

Speaking on the collaboration between the two, What So Not reminices about the first time he met Herizen at a writing came. “On the first take, Herizen belted out the chorus over some chords I was playing.”

“As the song developed I retained that feel, keeping the production light & lush centering the song around the beautiful & haunting vocal.”

Going into detail about the new single and Herizen’s new friendship with What So Not, Herizen explains how the song is essentially about “letting go of someone you love for the better and feeling all the pain in that detachment” and how “with the hope that it could end in a friendship.”

Back in 2018 I had the opportunity to interview What So Not prior to the release of his debut album, you can have a listen to the interview below and read the feature here.

Just as hard hitting and beat heavy as his previous singles, What So Not has put together a solid collaboration with a vocalist that creates an enticing atmosphere of soothing synths and recurring drum beats.

2019 looks to be a big year for What So Not as he has a whole lot of touring to do and the release of more music to come. Stay tuned.
