Flower Drums is an electronic duo from Melbourne (via Perth) and recently Leigh and Aden released the first taste of what’s to come off their forthcoming debut album ‘Sunshine Terror Babies‘ – due for release February 12 – with their new single, ‘Night Swims‘, a song that is essentially about the anxiety of leaving your comfort zone.

In the case of Flower Drums, the direct correlation of Night Swims comes from the time Leigh moved from Perth to Melbourne for the first time.

“The lyrics were a direct result of my situation at the time, I had recently moved from Perth to Melbourne with the intention of writing music and escaping a world that I had subsequently grown out of”, explains Leigh.

Offering a solid mix of dream pop and synth waved electronic vibes, Flower Drums have put together a solid single that not only showcases their great instrumental work, but also their storytelling expertise as well. I am looking forward to more from Aden and Leigh as we move closer to the release of their debut album.

To celebrate the release of the single, Flower Drums will be holding a launch gig with Aeora and Freya on February 17 at The Gasometer Hotel in Melbourne.
