Wafia is a Brisbane-based Dutch/Iraqi artist and today she has released another taste of her forthcoming EP ‘VIII’, with the single ‘Bodies’.
Bodies is a single that hits real close to home for Wafia as Bodies tells the stories of walking miles to safety across the on-going situation in Syria. In Wafia’s own words, the “idea is that I wanted to draw similarities between the large groups of Syrian Refugee’s walking miles to safety and those that can protest freely in the western world.”
“I can’t think of anything more human and simple than reminding ourselves that we are fragile bodies but the strength that can come of bodies in large numbers. “
While also noting how we “live in a world where so many things are difficult and divisive, and how Wafia “wanted this song to be accessible and inclusive because at the end of the day we all want to be a part of something bigger than us,” and how Wafia though this was the :best way I knew how to portray that.”
Having given fans a taste of her [Wafia] VIII EP back in May with the release of 83 Days, Wafia showcases a diverse musical offering that is story driven with the music playing second. This new offering showcases more of that, mixing a dry electronic vibe-base with the mix of Wafia’s great vocals and atmosphere of this dreamy sounding single.
