Richard Walters is an Oxford based singer-songwriter and he recently released his first release of 2017, titled ‘Starlight’. Having previously released his fourth album ‘A.M.’ and having a child in 2016, Richard has returned with a new standalone single.
According to Richard, ‘Starlight’ is essentially a song about nostalgia – from the point of view of his life. After having lost a friend to cancer in 2016 and had a child, Richard wanted to write a song about those two experiences and both of those impacting his life in different ways, with Richard also noted how “it felt like 2016 was bookended by these events, one utterly amazing and the other utterly heartbreaking, but both leaving me with an enormous, newfound respect for life and time.”
“‘Starlight’ is, I suppose, about that sense of nostalgia I felt at those two points, looking back but with one eye on the future.”
Starlight is a great addition to an already strong stable of tracks, with Starlight featuring heavy on the folk aspect of Richard’s musical ability, Starlight also has essences of folk and acoustic settings; making this an enjoyable three minute and two second offering. Have a listen below.
