British based electronic pop duo, Born Stranger (aka Maddox-Jones and Raife Hacking) have dropped their first piece of music for 2017 – after previously releasing ‘Fire & The Flame’ and ‘Be Someone’ – in the form of a collaboration with fellow artist, Caitlyn Scarlett, on the single ‘Cheating Love’; just in time for Valentine’s Day!
This three minute and 16 second track featuring the collaborative efforts of all three involved via Born Stranger’s synth-pop percussion of the track through the use of their synthetically orchestrated electronic beats to the valued use of Caitlyn’s extraordinary vocals throughout the entirety of the track.
Caitlyn spoke on the track on how the “idea came about to write about a situation from two people’s point of view.”
With the added notion of how cheating on love can be seen as the same way as cheating death – left to individual interpretation:
“The phrase ‘cheating love’ can be perceived as infidelity, but the undertone I wanted to convey was that of cheating love the same way someone might cheat death, a close shave but ultimately avoided.”
While Maddox-Jones and Raife noted on the collaboration with Caitlyn was pretty easy as she came up with “this great verse and lyrics” after 15 minutes (sic):
“We invited her to a studio session thinking we could get her to sing on one of our album tracks but when we got to the studio we had this instrumental and the title ‘Cheating Love’ – so we went with it and demo’d the track on the same day. A few tweaks later and here we are…”
