Melbourne based producer/artists Woodes has signed one heck of a deal to kick off 2017. That deal is with the folks over at Universal Music Publishing Group and it covers worldwide distribution of her music.

Woodes is an artist I have talked about previously on the program when I had the honour of playing her music. So it feels good to right about a musician that deserves the exposure, as Woodes does.

Having played Woodes twice in 2016 – April and July – Woodes has gone on to release a self titled EP, that went on to debut in the top 20 iTunes charts in 6 different countries, including an impressive #1 on the Singapore Alternative Album Charts, and has since ticked over 1.5 million streams online.

With the deal having been announced by Andrew Jenkins, President of Universal Music publishing Australasia, and Arwen Curson, VP Creative of Universal Music Publishing Australia and New Zealand; on the announcement of the signing, Arwen Curson noted how “Woodes is an undeniably talented and driven writer” (sic) and how they [Universal Music Publishing Group] “are absolutely thrilled to welcome her into the Universal Publishing family. It’s really refreshing to work with someone with such a precise vision of the artist they are going to be.”

Woodes herself added how “proud and grateful” (sic) she was to “be working with the Universal Publishing Group.”; Woodes also commented on the Woodes project and ow her music has changed:

“At the core of why I do music, I love songwriting and working with other people, as I thoroughly enjoy the problem solving aspect of writing and collaboratively working with others. I’ve been a writer for many years, the Woodes project was a branch off of that once I began forming everything together my own production and creative direction. I’ve always found the world of music placement fascinating. This new chapter is something I’ve been working towards for so many years and I feel at home with the Universal Publishing Group.”

Woodes joins a UMP Australia roster that includes JOY., Alex The Astronaut, Thief, Peking Duk, Timmy Trumpet, The Veronicas, M-Phazes, Gang Of Youths, Jonti, KLP, Sons Of The East, Bag Raiders, Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Cosmos Midnight and many more.
