Hein Cooper is an artist who I haven’t heard of previously, but I was glad to see his new single in my e-mail inbox, so I could share it with you all. But apparently Hein had a successful first run with his previous single called ‘Rusty’.
However, this time around, Hein Cooper is back with a new single called ‘Overflow’ and it’s pretty good – you can listen to it for yourself below. This song will definitely be getting a spin next week on Eat This Music.
Hein spoke on the new single:
I think this track is the polar opposite of my folk side on my album. It was an experimental idea that wasn’t finished til the last moment. Producer Marcus (Paquin) mentioned he felt I could write something stronger, I took the challenge, we scrapped the idea and a couple of hours later we had this totally new chorus that we stuck with! The message underneath the song is quite spiritual for me. It came out as a realisation of just how much there is inside of each and every person. I really wanted the song to come across in a hypnotic/mystical way that put people in the mood of pop but with more depth in the music and lyrics. — Hein Cooper
During a rare week off, Cooper has found time for a quick trip to Australia to support Peter, Bjorn and John at their Splendour in The Grass sideshows at The Metro in Sydney and The Corner Hotel in Melbourne this July before heading back overseas to play a run of 20+ festivals over the European Summer.
