Hockey Dad are an Australian band that I like a lot. In fact, I have supported their music many times on the website and podcast; here and here.

This time Hockey Dad – Zach Stephenson and Billy Fleming – are back to release a new song called ‘Jump The Gun’, ahead of their debut album release, ‘Boronia’, on August 12.

Billy Fleming (drums) explains the creative process of ‘Jump The Gun’:

This was written in my room while staring at my Endless Summer II poster, one of our favorite surf movies all the time. The lyrics spiraled off the line “on any day of the year, it’s summer somewhere in the world”. We found the demo from when we first started the band, and thought we’d bring it back to life for the album.

You can listen to Jump The Gun for yourself below – head on over to Hockey Dad’s Bandcamp to pre-order a copy of their debut album now.
